This bag is ok but I would not consider this bag a "trauma" bag. It lacks the space needed to carry all of the essential tools needed to serve as a valid "trauma" bag to me. I wished the actual sides would open up completely and not just a little half way. The bottom insert is flimsy and really doesn't serve much of a purpose for organization once this bag is being moved or tossed around. The cell phone pouch obviously wasn't designed with today's phones in mind so I keep a multi tool and knife in there instead. As far as the straps go I think there is just one too many for my liking. Overall the general material construction is good that I like. I just wished there was more space available to be considered an actual "trauma" pack.

At first glance, the 5243 Back Pack Trauma bag was everything I had hoped it would be. Then I started packing it with supplies. Being an EMT on a Emergency Response/Confined Space rescue team, the amount of supplies we carry can vary. After breaking our current bag down to just the essentials the Back Pack Trauma bag fell short in its carrying capacity. It needs to be at least 1/3 bigger with more pckets on the outside and more pockets on the inside. If the bag would open completely to a 90 degree position would be a great help too. I found that I had to always take everything out of the inside before I could reach the item I needed. Would work great for a first responder that didn't need to carry a huge assortment of equipment.

This bag is an absolute must... It's extremely versatile and light weight. I use it on my squad, on the sidelines of my son's football games, and at work.
